* Fix slow patch checking with commits that add or remove many files (#31548) ↵Giteabot2024-07-051-8/+27
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | (#31560) Backport #31548 by @brechtvl Running git update-index for every individual file is slow, so add and remove everything with a single git command. When such a big commit lands in the default branch, it could cause PR creation and patch checking for all open PRs to be slow, or time out entirely. For example, a commit that removes 1383 files was measured to take more than 60 seconds and timed out. With this change checking took about a second. This is related to #27967, though this will not help with commits that change many lines in few files. Co-authored-by: Brecht Van Lommel <brecht@blender.org>
* Lazy load object format with command line and don't do it in OpenRepository ↵Lunny Xiao2024-03-121-1/+5
| | | | | | | (#29712) Most time, when invoking `git.OpenRepository`, `objectFormat` will not be used, so it's a waste to invoke commandline to get the object format. This PR make it a lazy operation, only invoke that when necessary.
* Improve ObjectFormat interface (#28496)Lunny Xiao2023-12-191-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The 4 functions are duplicated, especially as interface methods. I think we just need to keep `MustID` the only one and remove other 3. ``` MustID(b []byte) ObjectID MustIDFromString(s string) ObjectID NewID(b []byte) (ObjectID, error) NewIDFromString(s string) (ObjectID, error) ``` Introduced the new interfrace method `ComputeHash` which will replace the interface `HasherInterface`. Now we don't need to keep two interfaces. Reintroduced `git.NewIDFromString` and `git.MustIDFromString`. The new function will detect the hash length to decide which objectformat of it. If it's 40, then it's SHA1. If it's 64, then it's SHA256. This will be right if the commitID is a full one. So the parameter should be always a full commit id. @AdamMajer Please review.
* Adjust object format interface (#28469)Lunny Xiao2023-12-171-1/+1
| | | | | | | - Remove `ObjectFormatID` - Remove function `ObjectFormatFromID`. - Use `Sha1ObjectFormat` directly but not a pointer because it's an empty struct. - Store `ObjectFormatName` in `repository` struct
* Abstract hash function usage (#28138)Adam Majer2023-12-131-6/+13
| | | | | | Refactor Hash interfaces and centralize hash function. This will allow easier introduction of different hash function later on. This forms the "no-op" part of the SHA256 enablement patch.

* Add more linters to improve code readability (#19989)Wim2022-06-201-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | Add nakedret, unconvert, wastedassign, stylecheck and nolintlint linters to improve code readability - nakedret - https://github.com/alexkohler/nakedret - nakedret is a Go static analysis tool to find naked returns in functions greater than a specified function length. - unconvert - https://github.com/mdempsky/unconvert - Remove unnecessary type conversions - wastedassign - https://github.com/sanposhiho/wastedassign - wastedassign finds wasted assignment statements. - notlintlint - Reports ill-formed or insufficient nolint directives - stylecheck - https://staticcheck.io/docs/checks/#ST - keep style consistent - excluded: [ST1003 - Poorly chosen identifier](https://staticcheck.io/docs/checks/#ST1003) and [ST1005 - Incorrectly formatted error string](https://staticcheck.io/docs/checks/#ST1005)

* Make Requests Processes and create process hierarchy. Associate ↵zeripath2021-11-301-7/+7
| | | | | | | | | OpenRepository with context. (#17125) This PR registers requests with the process manager and manages hierarchy within the processes. Git repos are then associated with a context, (usually the request's context) - with sub commands using this context as their base context. Signed-off-by: Andrew Thornton <art27@cantab.net>
* Add .gitattribute assisted language detection to blame, diff and render (#17590)zeripath2021-11-171-5/+7

* refactor: move from io/ioutil to io and os package (#17109)Eng Zer Jun2021-09-221-2/+1
| | | | | | | | | The io/ioutil package has been deprecated as of Go 1.16, see https://golang.org/doc/go1.16#ioutil. * Use git attributes to determine generated and vendored status for language ↵zeripath2021-09-091-4/+35
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | stats and diffs (#16773) Replaces #16262 Replaces #16250 Replaces #14833 This PR first implements a `git check-attr` pipe reader - using `git check-attr --stdin -z --cached` - taking account of the change in the output format in git 1.8.5 and creates a helper function to read a tree into a temporary index file for that pipe reader. It then wires this in to the language stats helper and into the git diff generation. Files which are marked generated will be folded by default. Fixes #14786 Fixes #12653
