* Fix all Javadoc warnings and fail on themAntoine Musso2023-06-162-7/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This fixes all the javadoc warnings, stops ignoring doclint 'missing' category and fails the build on javadoc warnings for public and protected classes and class members. Since javadoc doesn't allow access specifiers when specifying doclint configuration we cannot set `-Xdoclint:all,-missing/private` hence there is no simple way to skip private elements from doclint. Therefore we check javadoc using the Eclipse Java compiler (which is used by default) and javadoc configuration in `.settings/org.eclipse.jdt.core.prefs` files. This allows more fine grained configuration. We can reconsider this when javadoc starts supporting access specifiers in the doclint configuration. Below are detailled explanations for most modifications. @inheritDoc =========== doclint complains about explicits `{@inheritDoc}` when the parent does not have any documentation. As far as I can tell, javadoc defaults to inherit comments and should only be used when one wants to append extra documentation from the parent. Given the parent has no documentation, remove those usages which doclint complains about. In some case I have moved up the documentation from the concrete class up to the abstract class. Remove `{@inheritDoc}` on overriden methods which don't add additional documentation since javadoc defaults to inherit javadoc of overridden methods. @value to @link =============== In PackConfig, DEFAULT_SEARCH_FOR_REUSE_TIMEOUT and similar are forged from Integer.MAX_VALUE and are thus not considered constants (I guess cause the value would depends on the platform). Replace it with a link to `Integer.MAX_VALUE`. In `StringUtils.toBoolean`, @value was used to refer to the `stringValue` parameter. I have replaced it with `{@code stringValue}`. {@link
} to ==================== @link does not support being given an external URL. Replaces them with HTML ``. @since: being invalid ===================== org.eclipse.jgit/src/org/eclipse/jgit/util/Equality.java has an invalid tag `@since: ` due to the extra `:`. Javadoc does not complain about it with version 11.0.18+10 but does with 11.0.19.7. It is invalid regardless. invalid HTML syntax =================== - javadoc doesn't allow
,
and
anymore, use
and
instead - replace code by {@code code} -
tags don't allow summary attribute, specify caption as
caption
to fix this doclint visibility issue ======================== In the private abstract classes `BaseDirCacheEditor` and `BasePackConnection` links to other methods in the abstract class are inherited in the public subclasses but doclint gets confused and considers them unreachable. The HTML documentation for the sub classes shows the relative links in the sub classes, so it is all correct. It must be a bug somewhere in javadoc. Mute those warnings with: @SuppressWarnings("doclint:missing") Misc ==== Replace `<` and `>` with HTML encoded entities (`< and `>`). In `SshConstants` I went enclosing a serie of -> arrows in @literal. Additional tags =============== Configure maven-javad0c-plugin to allow the following additional tags defined in https://openjdk.org/jeps/8068562: - apiNote - implSpec - implNote Missing javadoc =============== Add missing @params and descriptions Change-Id: I840056389aa59135cfb360da0d5e40463ce35bd0 Also-By: Matthias Sohn <matthias.sohn@sap.com>
* Add getsRefsByPrefixWithSkips (excluding prefixes) to ReftableDatabaseGal Paikin2021-01-271-0/+11
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | We sometimes want to get all the refs except specific prefixes, similarly to getRefsByPrefix that gets all the refs of a specific prefix. We now create a new method that gets all refs matching a prefix except a set of specific prefixes. One use-case is for Gerrit to be able to get all the refs except refs/changes; in Gerrit we often have lots of refs/changes, but very little other refs. Currently, to get all the refs except refs/changes we need to get all the refs and then filter the refs/changes, which is very inefficient. With this method, we can simply skip the unneeded prefix so that we don't have to go over all the elements. RefDirectory still uses the inefficient implementation, since there isn't a simple way to use Refcursor to achieve the efficient implementation (as done in ReftableDatabase). * reftable: split off generic code from DFS codeHan-Wen Nienhuys2019-10-161-3/+38
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This introduces ReftableBatchRefUpdate and ReftableDatabase, as generic classes, with some code moved to DfsReftableBatchRefUpdate and DfsReftableDatabase. Clarify thread-safety requirements by asserting locked status in accessors, and acquiring locks in callers. This does not fix threading problems, because ReftableBatchRefUpdate already wraps the whole transaction in a lock. This also fixes a number of bugs in ReftableBatchRefUpdate: * non-atomic updates should not bail on first failure * isNameConflicting should also check for conflicts between names that are added and removed in the BatchRefUpdate. * dfs: Switch InMemoryRepository to DfsReftableDatabaseShawn Pearce2017-10-181-4/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | This ensure DfsReftableDatabase is tested by the same test suites that use/test InMemoryRepository. It also simplifies the logic of InMemoryRepository and brings its compatibility story closer to any other DFS repository that uses reftables for its reference storage. * Add support to follow HTTP redirectsThomas Wolf2017-08-171-0/+85
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | git-core follows HTTP redirects so JGit should also provide this. Implement config setting http.followRedirects with possible values "false" (= never), "true" (= always), and "initial" (only on GET, but not on POST).[1] We must do our own redirect handling and cannot rely on the support that the underlying real connection may offer. At least the JDK's HttpURLConnection has two features that get in the way: * it does not allow cross-protocol redirects and thus fails on http->https redirects (for instance, on Github). * it translates a redirect after a POST to a GET unless the system property "http.strictPostRedirect" is set to true. We don't want to manipulate that system setting nor require it. Additionally, git has its own rules about what redirects it accepts;[2] for instance, it does not allow a redirect that adds query arguments. We handle response codes 301, 302, 303, and 307 as per RFC 2616.[3] On POST we do not handle 303, and we follow redirects only if http.followRedirects == true. Redirects are followed only a certain number of times. There are two ways to control that limit: * by default, the limit is given by the http.maxRedirects system property that is also used by the JDK. If the system property is not set, the default is 5. (This is much lower than the JDK default of 20, but I don't see the value of following so many redirects.) * this can be overwritten by a http.maxRedirects git config setting. The JGit http.* git config settings are currently all global; JGit has no support yet for URI-specific settings "http.<pattern>.name". Adding support for that is well beyond the scope of this change. Like git-core, we log every redirect attempt (LOG.info) so that users may know about the redirection having occurred. Extends the test framework to configure an AppServer with HTTPS support so that we can test cloning via HTTPS and redirections involving HTTPS.
