  3. this licence, the Open Government Licence, freely and flexibly, with only

  5. Using Information under this licence
  6. Use of copyright and database right material expressly made available under
  7. this licence (the 'Information') indicates your acceptance of the terms and
  8. conditions below.
  9. The Licensor grants you a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, non-exclusive
  10. licence to use the Information subject to the conditions below.
  11. This licence does not affect your freedom under fair dealing or fair use or
  12. any other copyright or database right exceptions and limitations.

  14. copy, publish, distribute and transmit the Information;
  15. adapt the Information;
  16. exploit the Information commercially for example, by combining it with other

  18. You must, where you do any of the above:

  38. Exemptions
  39. This licence does not cover the use of:
  40. - personal data in the Information;
  41. - Information that has neither been published nor disclosed under information
  42. access legislation (including the Freedom of Information Acts for the UK and
  43. Scotland) by or with the consent of the Information Provider;
  44. - departmental or public sector organisation logos, crests and the Royal Arms
  45. except where they form an integral part of a document or dataset;
  46. - military insignia;
  47. - third party rights the Information Provider is not authorised to license;
  48. - Information subject to other intellectual property rights, including patents,
  49. trademarks, and design rights; and
  50. - identity documents such as the British Passport.
  51. No warranty
  52. The Information is licensed 'as is' and the Information Provider excludes
  53. all representations, warranties, obligations and liabilities in relation to
  54. the Information to the maximum extent permitted by law.
  55. The Information Provider is not liable for any errors or omissions in the
  56. Information and shall not be liable for any loss, injury or damage of any
  57. kind caused by its use. The Information Provider does not guarantee the continued
  58. supply of the Information.
  59. Governing Law
  60. This licence is governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Information
  61. Provider has its principal place of business, unless otherwise specified by
  62. the Information Provider.
  63. Definitions
  64. In this licence, the terms below have the following meanings:
  65. 'Information' means information protected by copyright or by database right
  66. (for example, literary and artistic works, content, data and source code)
  67. offered for use under the terms of this licence.
  68. 'Information Provider' means the person or organisation providing the Information
  69. under this licence.
  70. 'Licensor' means any Information Provider which has the authority to offer
  71. Information under the terms of this licence or the Controller of Her Majesty's
  72. Stationery Office, who has the authority to offer Information subject to Crown
  73. copyright and Crown database rights and Information subject to copyright and
  74. database right that has been assigned to or acquired by the Crown, under the
  75. terms of this licence.
  76. 'Use' as a verb, means doing any act which is restricted by copyright or database
  77. right, whether in the original medium or in any other medium, and includes
  78. without limitation distributing, copying, adapting, modifying as may be technically
  79. necessary to use it in a different mode or format.
  80. 'You' means the natural or legal person, or body of persons corporate or incorporate,
  81. acquiring rights under this licence.
  82. About the Open Government Licence
  83. The Controller of Her Majesty's Stationery Office (HMSO) has developed this
  84. licence as a tool to enable Information Providers in the public sector to
  85. license the use and re-use of their Information under a common open licence.
  86. The Controller invites public sector bodies owning their own copyright and
  87. database rights to permit the use of their Information under this licence.
  88. The Controller of HMSO has authority to license Information subject to copyright
  89. and database right owned by the Crown. The extent of the Controller's offer
  90. to license this Information under the terms of this licence is set out in
  91. the UK Government Licensing Framework.
  92. This is version 1.0 of the Open Government Licence. The Controller of HMSO
  93. may, from time to time, issue new versions of the Open Government Licence.
  94. However, you may continue to use Information licensed under this version should
  95. you wish to do so.
  96. These terms have been aligned to be interoperable with any Creative Commons
  97. Attribution Licence, which covers copyright, and Open Data Commons Attribution
  98. License, which covers database rights and applicable copyrights.
