A few classes such as Constanrs are marked with @SuppressWarnings, as are
toString() methods with many liternal, but otherwise $NLS-n$ is used for
string containing text that should not be translated. A few literals may
fall into the gray zone, but mostly I've tried to only tag the obvious
ones.

This type and its associated methods has been deprecated for a while
now. Time to remove it. Applications can use a TreeWalk instead to
access the elements of any tree-like object.

Refactor tree entry formatting into a common class
Instead of hiding this logic inside of DirCacheTree and the legacy
Tree type, pull it into a common place where we can reuse it by
creating tree records in a buffer that can be passed directly into
the ObjectInserter. This allows us to avoid some copying, as the
inserter can be given the internal buffer of the formatter.
Because we trust these two callers to feed us records in the proper
order, without '/' in the names, and without duplicate names in the
same tree, we don't do any validation inside of the formatter itself.
To protect themselves from making ordering errors, developers should
continue to use DirCache to process edits to source code trees.

ObjectWriter is a deprecated API that people shouldn't be using.
So get rid of it in favor of the ObjectInserter API.

We want to get rid of these APIs, because they don't perform as well
as DirCache/TreeWalk, or don't offer nearly as many features.

Refactor Repository.openObject to be Repository.open
We drop the "Object" suffix, because its pretty clear here that
we want to open an object, given that we pass in AnyObjectId as
the main parameter. We also fix the calling convention to throw
a MissingObjectException or IncorrectObjectTypeException, so that
callers don't have to do this error checking themselves.

The strings are externalized into the root resource bundles.
The resource bundles are stored under the new "resources" source
folder to get proper maven build.
Strings from tests are, in general, not externalized. Only in
cases where it was necessary to make the test pass the strings
were externalized. This was typically necessary in cases where
e.getMessage() was used in assert and the exception message was
slightly changed due to reuse of the externalized strings.

As discussed on the egit-dev mailing list, we prefer not to have
trailing whitespace in our source code. Correct all currently
offending lines by trimming them.

Per CQ 3448 this is the initial contribution of the JGit project
to eclipse.org. It is derived from the historical JGit repository
at commit 3a2dd9921c.
